Well….that went by fast!

The 2024 RPSC soccer season is in the books and what a last 4 months of soccer it has been. I hope everyone involved has had a fantastic time being in and around the beautiful game and I wanted to reach out one final time to review all the great things that happened this year and looking forward to 2025.

We had more than half of our board change in 2024, which brought great energy and commitment to help make this season what it was….thank you to all of our Board Members for your dedication and passion to help make soccer as best as it can be in RP.

We had 60 volunteer Head & Assistant coaches working with your children throughout the season on scorching hot days, cool fall Saturday mornings and sometimes working with small numbers and still giving it 100%, so thank you to all of our volunteer coaches. If you like the RPSC Scarves you see & didn’t get one yet, please reach out to claim your coach’s gift.

Our crew of 13 field lining experts, thank you, thank you. That job takes so much pressure off our coaches prior to home games and keeps our fields looking sharp for game days.

We also had a year of records and firsts for the club. We had 392 players registered this year, which is a record for River Park Soccer. We held our 1st Sac Republic summer camp & our 1st Club night at Sac Republic against Phoenix Rising with over 180 club members in attendance!! So great to see the kids smiling faces in the high Five tunnel pre-game

Our Kickoff event on September 6th was the best yet and we had our 1st Club wide photo….it goes without saying we want that event to be bigger and better next year too!

We had our 1st consistent Goalkeeper training on offer throughout the season for our U10 and older teams & our Foot skills sessions for the younger ages too in August.

Our Spirit wear this year is on fire and its so amazing to see so many kids at Caleb, families walking the neighborhood and at games supporting the club & wearing the hoodies, t-shirts, hats with pride! We are looking to expand our Spirit wear offerings for 2025 and already have some great ideas to have available.

It has been great to see so many kids playing soccer at practice and games in the neighborhood this season, but none more so than at the Super Rec cup this past weekend in Davis. If you were there, then you already know, but this was a huge soccer tournament for all Rec teams in Northern California and RPSC had 10 teams representing. Congratulations to all of our teams in attendance and to the players & coaches’ efforts through the weekend. You all represented the club and yourselves with great sporting integrity and should take great pride in that, regardless of results. I’m also delighted to say we had 4 of our teams make the championship game and 2 of those won & took home the championship! U12 Div 1 Boys, Tiger Sharks and U9 Div 1 Boys, JackJumpers, great job representing River Park Soccer & congrats on the Trophy! Huge shout out to the U9 Boys Rowdies & U10 Boys Pizza Pals who made the Championship games as well in their respective divisions.

Looking to the future, The City of Sacramento will be starting work on Glenn Hall park this week, aerating and top dressing the fields to improve the grass and playing surface for next year. I think we all can be excited about that and hopes for much better playing fields at Glenn Hall for the 2025 season. Whilst this work is going on and once its finished, we do ask that coaches and kids don’t play/practice on Glenn Hall for a few weeks after to help the field recover from the work.

We will also be hosting our Annual General Meeting early in the new year and we will announce that date soon. We encourage you to attend as every club member has a vote and that is also where we outline plans for the year and add additional volunteers or board members. We are always looking for help, you don’t have to be a board member but could help be a volunteer to assist with the kickoff event, field lining, picture day coordination or any other areas you think you can assist with.

We will also be looking to offer more soccer related activities to continue to grow the love for the game and passion for soccer in these kids. Registration for the 2025 season will open early May, but please follow our website, Facebook and Instagram page for updates throughout the spring.

It’s been really enjoyable being Club Manager this year and I thank everyone for your help throughout and greatly looking forward to another awesome soccer season in 2025!

Have a wonderful holiday season and Go RPSC!
